Custodian- 2nd Shift

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Demonstrates aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Previous history of successful working experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • To provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn and develop.

Responsibilities:         

  • Keeps building and premises including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.
  • Shovels, plows, and/or salts walk, driveways, parking areas, and steps as needed.
  • Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open, and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
  • Raises the United States of America Flag at/or before 8:00 a.m. on each school day and lowers it at or after 3:30 p.m.
  • Cleans classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
  • Cleans corridors after each school day and during the day when needed.
  • Scrubs and disinfects toilets and floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
  • Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently, if necessary.
  • Keeps the ground neat and orderly.
  • Performs ground-keeping tasks, including but not limited to grass cutting, tree-trimming, leaf removal, etc. to maintain the school grounds in safe and neat condition.
  • Keeps all floors clean.
  • Makes any building repairs as he/she is instructed and trained to do.
  • Reports major and minor repairs needed promptly to Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assists in servicing mechanical equipment.
  • Report any school property damage immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance required by the Maintenance Supervisor, unless otherwise approved by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day. Ensures all doors, windows, and gate(s) are secured and all lights, with exception of safety lights, are turned off.
  • Ensures building alarm systems are enabled/disabled each day.
  • Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel on hand.
  • Requisitions needed supplies and replacements from the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Conducts an on-going program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
  • Moves furniture and/or equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assists with deliveries to other buildings as directed and daily mail-run.
  • Complies with local law and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and waste.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Facilities/Educational Support Personnel

Reports To:

  • Maintenance Supervisor and/or Executive Director/Assistant Executive Director.

Terms of Employment:

  • Employment is in accordance with the established bargaining unit agreement established through the Educational Support Personnel contract.

Method of Evaluation:

  • The performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Educational Support Personnel.

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • This is an active position requiring the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, climb, walk, and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs.; verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate; and visual acuity to oversee projects and make observations. Work includes both indoors and outdoors.
